Choosing the Right Rubber

Most wrong orders happen because the rubber was picked by price or colour. Match it to what the part touches.

NR / SBR: hard wearing and low cost, for mats, lining and packing. Not for oil or strong sun.

Which rubber should I choose if the part will touch oil or fuel?

Nitrile (NBR) is the usual choice for oil, fuel and grease. Natural rubber, SBR and EPDM swell and soften in mineral oils, so avoid them for oily jobs.

What is the difference between NR/SBR and EPDM?

NR/SBR is a general-purpose, hard-wearing rubber that suits mats, lining and packing in dry, non-oily areas. EPDM resists sunlight, ozone, hot water and steam much better, so it suits outdoor use, water systems and weather seals.

How do I choose the right rubber mount?

Start with the load on each mount point, then the vibration frequency and whether the mount will be loaded in compression or shear. Share the machine weight, number of mounting points and speed, and we will suggest a size and hardness.

Can you cut rubber sheets to size?

Yes. We cut sheets, strips, washers and gaskets to your dimensions. Send a drawing, a sample or the sizes.

What thickness and hardness do you supply?
